cigarette lighter

Post by skyblues11 »

i am still waiting for mine so i am not sure about this subject.

i was wondering how do i recharge the mobile phone in the car? i forgot to include the 15 quid smoker pack. i am not sure how hard to fit this retrospectively, as the dealer said ANY changes would affect the build date.

all my life i have had cars with a cigarette lighter and took this for granted, using the usual charger kits for sat-nav, mobile phones etc.

instead of the lighter, is there a 12v socket? and if there is one, where is it? i hope its not in the boot....imagine cables trailing all the way to the cabin.

this is something i have totally forgot to check or include ! stupid me! as it was only 15 quid... :(

There's a 12v socket just in front of the gear stick.

thanks philips1321! i was so afraid about this when i first released it.

is this inside the flap above the ESP-OFF, ACC button? i don't remember seeing it when i sat in one.

is this 12v socket works exactly the same as the lighter socker? i recall seeing it in other cars but never bother to open the little cap.

Yes, it's in the tray in front of the ESP button, actually got 12v on the circular cover. Works the same as cigarette lighter, ie only powered when igniton on/engine running.

I think the one infront of the gear lever is the one that comes with the smokers pack. Its just taken your to mention Sat Navs for me to realise I'm not gonna be able to charge mine! I originally spec'ed the DVD Sat Nav so totally forgot about the socket in the front when I decided not to go for it.

The 12V socket is there whether you have the smoker's pack or not - all the smoker's pack does is put the cigarette lighter "insert" into the socket. Without the smoker's pack you're left with the uncovered cubby hole and the 12V socket.

Agree with this i have the smokers pack but dont smoke but it gives a nice cover over the hole that you would have if you did not have one. £15, got to be the cheapest option and it looks good.

for me its more important charging the gadgets. I guess the cubby hole will be filled with some junk.

somewhere in this forum i remember someone did a DIY lid on that cubby hole.

i think be it smoker or not, there should be a socket there in the facia/ centre console, full stop.

I quite like the cubby hole area you get as standard without the smokers pack, I chuck my wallet there when I get in the car after taking it out of my jeans pocket. As people have said above, all Sciroccos, whatever their spec, come with the ability to charge electrical devices via a 12V socket, both in the front of the car (in front of the gear stick), and in the boot.
