Scirocco with 1.8 Tfsi Engine?

Post by gggg! »

Hello to all.
Does anyone knows any info concerning a 1.8 Tfsi engine add up to the Scirocco in the near future?
The well known twincharger may produce identical hp (160hp to 160/170 for 1.8Tfsi)
but the power delivery is so much better in the 1.8 engine,
and the 2.0 engine is way too expensive in my country (31.000euros vs 24.000euros for 1.4tsi in Greece).
Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

as far as VW UK have told us here in UK, the scirocco is currently only available with 2.0 tsi, 1.4 tsi and 2.0 CR diesel. Due to the world economic crisis, car sales in UK have fallen by huge amounts and I think VW are not selling cars in the quantity they expected. With this in mind I think it possible that VW may not rush to introduce extra models into the line up at this time. I know there are a few of us here in the UK that would like to see an R version but we may have to wait some time. This is all my own opinion so do not read this as gospel.

Is there not the possibility to buy a car cheaper in Europe being all left hand drive and import it to Greece ? This is a popular method in the UK as our taxes add quite a large amount to the cost of a new car. I am surprised the cost is so high in Greece, my 2.0tsi with leather, Nav, DSG etc cost around 25000 UK pounds which at the current exchange rate of about 1.2 Euro to the pound equals 30,000 Euro.

The car here in UK turns heads at an amazing rate, everyone looks at it. If the same happens in Greece, you will be a happy owner whatever engine you have under the bonnet. :shake:
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

What about outside the Eurozone i.e. Hungary? The Hungarian Forint has lost value recently due to the economic crisis:

The Hungarian forint has lost almost 20% of its value in the past month against the euro http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7696682.stm

Unfortunately, tax laws in our Country make it very unprofitable for a new car import, actually in some occasions more expensive too!
Anyhow, thanks for yor thoughts, hoping that the 2.0 models don't make the selling figures that VW expects at least
in countries like Greece, Italy , Spain, were the price is relatively high compared to the twincharged one.
Maybe then they rethink to add up the 1.8, since tax laws are not too strict in that category.
