I am after some help with how to remove the trim on my 2017 R-line in front of the indicator, DRL & fog light unit on the R/H side.
All the videos and manual seem to show the trim with the round light. Mine is like the image below.
Thanks in advance Boardboy

Re: Trim Removal
I've just assembled one of these bumpers from new (non-VW) parts and I'm not convinced that the typical 'give it a good pull' technique would result in it cleanly coming apart. The black trim fits into the bumper moulding with clips every couple of inches around its circumference (its not attached to the light).
I've seen people just pull them off in Youtube clips, but it makes me wince every time when you see just how fragile those little barbed clips are.
If it were me, and I had the time and space to do it, I'd have the bumper off and release those tabs from the back.

Re: Trim Removal
Not sure if this gives you any better idea of how it attaches:
That's with R type LED running/indicator lights instead of the 3-way GT/R-Line light unit, but the trim and bumper is the same for both anyway. In the bottom image you can see the lip that runs around the edge of the hole where the light fits, and this has cut-outs every few inches for the barbed clips on the back of the black trim to push/snap in.

Maybe a better image from just before fitting the bumper:

Re: Trim Removal
Thanks Megatron that's really helpful. I will probably remove the arch liner and takeout the light unit from inside and have a look.
I am like you and wince when you "just pull" trim free.
