DSG Gearbox Release bearing?

Post by Geeba »

Just wondering if the DSG gearbox has a release bearing and if anyone has changed it?

I have a 2013 R with DSG - its been absoulty rock solid, 2 owner car and completely standard, never mapped, looked after, but has done 116K, it has however been my daily driver for the past 4+ years and I've notice a little bit of what I would identify as a whirring release bearing on lift off but my days of experince in this area is MK2 GTI and Corrado.... so I thought I'd ask here... only seems to happen when it gets warm, I thought it was a wheel bearing at first due to the horrendous roads but that (passenger side) seems fine.

Did try google and searching etc.

Gearbox has been serviced by VW at 40k & 80K, so almost due again... would adaptation help? I have VCDS

Found that one of the dual clutch bearings is prone to wear... read on the MK5 forums its a common thing.
