Rear Seat Latch Mechanism Handle

Post by Caileanmor »

My drivers side (RHD) rear seat de-latch mechanism is broken. It's the mechanism below the plastic handle that is moved forward to release the catch. There's a cable runs from here to the latch at the side of the car. I can remove the plastic trim around the handle and can see the issue. There's a plastic rod comes horizontally from the body of the seat and as the plastic handle is moved forward the rod turns and pull the metal wire cable. However what I see is that this rod is loose and moves at an angle which does not allow purchase on the cable. At the moment I don't know what I am dealing with as I cannot see into the seat to see the other end of the rod. Is it broken / loose? Has anyone encountered this previously or does anyone have any ideas ? If requested I can provide a photo of the innards but as I just put everything back together I don't feel inclined to strip it all back down again. (and it's pouring rain outside !)

How do you manage that? I've looked for a way of doing that but couldn't find a suitable place to poke the screwdriver!! That would be very helpful.
