Missing ACC button in Center Cover - Need advice

Post by Azu »

Hello everyone, a fresh owner of a 2.0 2012 TSI here :).

I'm wondering about the lack of ACC button (sport/comfort option). Is this normal, or was this an optional thing? Is there any real difference between 2.0 with and without that button?

Scrolling through the forums I've noticed similar question
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15791&p=133826&hili ... on#p133826" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

However I'm not so convinced with the answer.

Am I missing anything if I don't have the ACC button? Could it may, in any way, affect my "expectations" of the car?
Or can I simply ignore it since, as i read, it just slightly alters the steering/suspension?

Cheers!

If you'ce never had it, you won't know what you are missing therefore it shouldn't impact your enjoyment of the car.

I must admit I thought it was a standard feature on a 2012 2.0 TSI. As far as I'm aware it as only the entry level 1.4 cars that didn't have it fitted as standard, although it did become an option on some of the later facelift models.

Yes, you are correct, the different modes alter the stiffness of the dampers and adjust the weight of the steering. Some people say they don't feel much difference between the 3 settings whereas others say they do.

The electrically adjustable Boge dampers are very expensive, circa £300 each, if they need replaced therefore it may be the case a previous owner has fitted normal dampers and removed the switch.

I believe acc was standard on the gt version

I have a 2.0 tsi gt and I have it

99%of the time it’s in sport mode, 1% in comfort for the longer journeys

You do notice a difference in how heavy the steering is and how stiff the suspension is between all 3 modes

I couldn’t honestly say I notice a difference in throttle response though

As far as I'm aware it doesn't alter the throttle response.

You’re right, it doesn’t according vw’s webpage on dcc-acc

It uses engine data to adjust the dampers

So it only adjusts steering weight and damper stiffness
