Code needed?

Post by andirob »

I bought a used RCD 510 and the guy said it didn't need a code. I never got round to fitting it and have now sold the car. I want to sell the stereo now but will it need a code? Many thanks

Yes, you will need the code. You could try one of people on Ebay that supply the code if you supply the unit serial number. A risk but it seems to have worked for some people.

The only time you don't need a code is if the unit is fitted to the car it left the factory in. If you know the VIN or registration number of the car the unit was fitted to when it left the factory, VW dealer may be able to provide the code, although I wouldn't hold my breath.
