SCIROCCO TDI 2.0 Car Battery Issue

Post by Adrian12150 »

Hi guys every since i been working from home my Scirocco 2.0 TDI has not been used that often to be exact only on Saturday to do my shopping. its been like this for two months and sometimes i did not even turn the car on for two weeks because of the lockdown! so now if i don't start the car on the battery will go down to 11v until the next Saturday. Jump starting it solves the problem and the car works fine again for couple days again. The current battery i have i think is like 4 years old and this is the battery Lion AGM 096 Car Battery - 3 year Guarantee and the link to it can be found on https://www.eurocarparts.com/p/lion-agm ... -444778001" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I opened the cells and noticed a lot of corrosion on the cells and there was only little acid in there so I added some boiled water. The car works fine now so my question is what should I do? should I just buy a new battery? or should i start the car every 2 days to keep the battery voltage? or should I buy a lithium 600a jumpstart power banks? or should I buy a car battery charger and the charge the battery as it didn't get a good charge in a while? and maybe it could help remove the corrosion?

Thank you :)

Just buy a new battery. Buy a good quality Bosch or Varta battery. Lion batteries have a poor reputation.

These guys are quite good on price and service.

If you're not using the car that often then it may be worth considering a CTEK or Optimate battery conditioner.
