Recon Engine

Hi. I have just experienced timing chain issues on my 2010 44k 2.0tsi and been advised by my mechanic that the engine will need reconditioning or replacing. Backed up by a few posts I've read on here.
Cam anyone recommend a north UK, close to West Yorkshire if possible, specialist to ideally fully recondition my engine or replace with a reconditioned unit?

Have you looked into the damage yet? We're you driving when it happened or it just didn't start next time you used it?

Ebay engines go for about £2k but people I've spoken to said alot just pressure wash down engines call them refurnished.

My cylinder head cost me £402 at a machine shop to get it hot washed, pressure tested, broken stud removal and 8 new valves supplied and fitted.

I've seen ebay cylinder heads for the scirocco for £199.

Nobody has done any exploratory work, just a quick diagnosis from looking around the engine and the noise. It just didn't start when I got back to it one evening. There had been a short rattle type noise on start up for the last few days which I put down to starter motor noise!
The quotes I've had are fully reconditioned engines or recon my own, they supplied the list of work they'd do and parts they'd replace but it's still down to trust. They're not local either

Sounds like the same as mine then. The same scenario gave me 8 bent valves but everything else okay.
