Hi all,
Thinking about having my, now 6.5 year old Scirocco 1.4 serviced locally rather than at the VW dealer who are many miles away - very inconvenient location and too far for them to collect car from me.
Have a trusted local garage - Basic question: can independents reset the service indicators?
Cheers
Can non-VW Dealers reset service indicators?

Yes, in fact you can do it yourself.

Thanks! Good to know.
Guessing you need a special device to reset it yourself?
Cheers :-)

Depends on the spec, if you have highline MFD display and the vehicle status display you can reset it within the associated menu. The only issue is if the car is on longlife service regime it will default to time and distance service regime if manually reset.

Great - thanks both.
I always thought this was something only the main dealer could do ... it's good to know that this isn't the case as it means the options for having my car serviced has now been increased.
