Knocking noise rear solved

HI all,

Thought Id share my findings as it may be useful to some of you. Ive had a knocking noise coming from the rear when driving over rough roads. Had shocks, top mounts replaced under warranty, still same issue.

Had to fold my rear seats down yesterday, and if you lift abit of the "excess" carpet on the rear seats at the bottom, you'll notice that there is a black metal pole, and what looks like a metal bracket, one for each rear seat.

On my car it didn't look right and looked like the bracket edge was hitting the black metal pole. Managed to push the brackets so the metal pole sits back inside the brackets.

Took the car for a spin and knocking is now more or less gone. Will monitor it over the coming days, but worth having a look if any of you have the same issue

Thanks for the tip. Rear knocking has plagued many sciroccos. Do you have a photo which might be helpful?
