Looking to buy but after the drive I wasn't impressed

Post by Azz95 »

Been looking at scirocco r' s, the 265 hp... had a drive of a 12 plate the other day and the it drove extremely well and the dsg was flawless!

However the engine just felt a little boring? There was no great pull and it was almost too refined and as a result didn't feel that quick?

Will mapping simply sort that?

Cheers guys

As soon as mine came back from my first mapping session it felt like a completely new car. Drove so much better, and handles the road very well for a FWD

I think that this feeling will also lie in the fact that the scirocco R is a very environmental friendly car with only 117 grams/mile CO2 emission. This is achieved with a very linear powerband.

From what I've heard/read online is that the engine in the rocco Roll ISN'T very linear and the turbo spools higher up in the rev range compared to the EA888 and other modern turbo engines so there is a delay lower down in the rev range. With the torque and turbo delivery it should feel much quicker than your civic so I'd definitely suggest driving another example!

Perhaps consider a 210hp and have a remap. I prefer my stage 1 revo to any r that I've driven.

They are very progressive from the factory.
Don't feel fast, but they are.

A remap really livens them up.
