Windscreen/wipers rattle sound

Post by 02ferreiravilarl »

Hey guys when I drive and put my foot down around 2k-4k rpm I hear a rattle sound that sounds from the windscreen/dash .. however when I put the wipers up and drive around with the wipers up I can't hear the creek / rattle.
Do I need a replacement for the wipers or could it be something else ?

I had this, it turned out to be the soundaktor. Fixed it by putting some velcro tape around the mounting bolt to stop it resonating.

Is there a reason why the wiper being up stops the soundaktor from making that creaking / rattling?

When I mean the wipers being up I don't mean as then being on but as when u put the wipers all the way up to the driver side and staying there while driving to see if the wipers were the cause.

Check that you haven't got dry crispy leaves in the scuttle (lift the bonnet and check the two large pockets either side of the base of the windscreen). They can rattle around when the air buffets them at speeds over about 40mph.

How do manage to get your wipers into service mode while driving?

If it goes away with the wiper's being up it points to the arms vibrating against the scuttle or something when parked. Check the clearances around the wiper arms / blades.

Hi put the key in ignition and take it out then just press and hold the wiper indicator down for a few seconds and the wipers will go up and stay there till you use the wipers.

I thought they would return to the park position when you started the car.

I'll try to see if it is that when my odbeleven arrives so I can disable it instead of unplugging it.
