Daily Driver Rant

Post by selleym »

Anyone experience this/know what runs through peoples minds...
Driving in a village near me lots of pedestrians 30 mph then goes to a national.
People try to overtake as it goes from 30 to national. Then they get angry and tailgate when I accelerate to 60 and they can't keep up.
Do they expect me to never accelerate from 30...
I don't get it
Ha rant over

Some people are just dicks!

I drive appropriate to the conditions, my ability and the car.

I ain't no granny on a motorway or dual carriage way....but will slow down if its pouring with rain, increase my stopping distance and drive with more care.
On a dry warm day, with few cars around I will let rip!....but never in a 30, never if pedestrians around. If I see kids around I automatically slow down further, and increase my awareness.
I slow on blind corners, keeping my car tucked in. I don't bomb down country lanes as most are unsafe at the national speed limit...statistically speaking the most crashes occur on a country lane and I can see why.

I like you would only be doing 30 in a 30 zone with pedestrians, and only a complete moron would ride up your ass and then overtake as you're coming out of it.

Speeding doesn't kill. morons kill!

If they are already out in the other lane when you boot it, I'd be fecking fuming! you might have just trapped me in that lane risking an accident.

but I agree overtaking bang on the National sign is what Knobs do!

Its a long wide stretch id never boot it if i could see a car coming the other way. That would just put me and the other innocent motorist at risk. Also wouldn't do it if they are already along side.
They normally zoom up behind and then start to overtake as the sign comes up expecting me to stay at 30 in the 60.
Then i say Goodbye knobhead

Sometimes if you have been following some old granny doing 45 in a national limit A-road, when you approach a town with a 30 zone, then I do and have overtaken coming out of the 30 zone.

You are going more slowly, so you can accelerate more quickly minimising time on the other side of the road, and a quicker overtake

There's nothing knobbish about it, what is knobbish is accelerating when you are being over taking.

Yes i agree if the car is already committed to the overtake and is in the other lane then thats stupid and dangerous.
Had that happen to me a few times luckily the right pedal was bigger is the rocco than their car.

You beat me to it. if both are you are accelerating and your not letting him in, another car can be coming the other direction and it can all go wrong very quickly...

If they wanna overtake then let em. not a big deal.

keep safe

What I hate is a car up my arse in a 30!

In your situatuon I let them overtake if need be.. no point in speeding up with them along side.. it's not worth it if theres an accident! Plus you will have to stop as a witness which makes you even more delayed!

If they're up my backside in the 30 and as it turns to 60 then i will press on.. or sometimes if i can see a car coming in the opposite way and i know they can't and won't overtake, I accelerate at very steady pace just to piss them off ;)

Ha just to clear it up that id never accelerate with them alongside that's just stupid. When i say begin to overtake they start gaining and put there car in a stance to initiate the overtake.

What I hate are nuggets who think it's safe/acceptable to come down a busy slip road at 30mph and try to merge with 70mph+ traffic. I just cannot see the logic.

3 lanes into a roundabout 3 exits off the roundabout. A monkey could match up the lanes and exits! Yet morons will go in the 1st lane for the second exit. If there is a car in the third lane, there is not enough room for 3 cars to simultaneously go round the roundabout and then they have to audacity to beep me because I'm going ROUND and not crashing into the car on my inside!
