New HEX-V2 Enthusiast interface for VCDS

Post by KarmaSumatra »

Just came across this on the Ross-Tech website:

https://store.ross-tech.com/shop/vchv2_ent/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Cheaper than the old style "unlimited" interface, but limited to 3 (or 10) VINs.

I'm guessing the resale value on these will be pretty poor, as most owners will use at least 1 VIN slot.

If you can get the older style 2nd hand on eBay then great, but they're not always available on there.

Very disappointed.
Old version. £285. Unlimited use.
New version, 3 cars, is £225. 10 cars is £299. Unlmited is HexNET at £450. Piss off.

Not only that but HexV2 does not support Crafters. Very poor show from RossTech IMO.

Damn, I'd be annoyed haha.

I'm debating whether to upgrade, unfortunately for me I would need Unlimited HexNET or the 10 Vin and charge £30 per coding change to make it worth my while.

The problem is that people like me who don't do it for a business but are active within the community and help others out for no real personal profit (I charged £10 usually) are left in an awkward position.

For the home user who does ONLY their own car then that's fair enough.
But for example there are 6 people within a 20 minute drive of me who are my friends who I have previously and will in the future be doing VCDS coding changes for.
For the "enthusiast" user there is nothing there

It would be better for home/Enthusiast users IMO to keep unlimited but then lose the Phone and E-mail support and only have Forum support.

Even the 3 VIN use is restricting as I would use mine to on my RS4, wifes Tiguan, sisters Golf and mothers Tiguan. You can see why they have done it to make money off the back of people making money themselves.

If you have an old version, as I did I take it this is not affected as long as you dont update the hardware or register online?

Really? I've got my doubts to be honest. Can that app reset the DSGs parameters?

looks like there are a few reviews out there and the consensus seems to be it looks pretty good for the budget user.

Had a good dig, the credits system is a little irritating to be honest, but it does look like a capable bit of kit
