Dsg whining in 1st and 2nd Gear anyone experienced this?
Hi!
I was just seeing if anyone has experienced a whining sound under gentle acceleration in 1st and 2nd on their Dsg box?
I have videod it and hope you can hear what i mean..
It dissapears in 3rd and there isnt a noise when testing the revs in park or neutral. I have heard it could be bearings (if so is it worth replacing them)?
Any ideas would be greatful :-)
Cheers!

This is not normal but don't know what the problem is. When was the last service? Sounds like a good idea to get the bearings/gears checked.

Well its currently being investigated, took it to my local vw specialist who said the dsg would need to be rebuilt, and that warranty wouldnt cover it. Bare in mind ive had this less than a month, so i drove it straight back to the dealer i got it from and they are doing it all for free. So its just a waiting game now to see what was up with it, it drove perfectly it was just noisy in those gears.

Recon unit has now been fitted, apparently the box was screwed and had only done 43k miles!

Glad you got it sorted, but I agree with Ninja as it sounded like the diff. How is it now?

Im off to pick it up today after a week of not having it so ill let you know later on. The recon unit comes with 6months warranty so hopefully all will be good. Just need to find out the oil situation now and see if i just do it as normal '40k'.

Got it back running sweet now! No whining sounds or anything. Apparently on the old box second gear was 'marked' whatever that means.
