Scirocco Insurance companies

Post by SamUL93 »

Hi all,

Just rang my current insurance company (Chris Knott) and they have flatly refused to insure me on a Scirocco (140 TDI) as its "quite a jump up in performance" from my current Skoda Fabia Tdi 100. And they could get a thrid party company to insure me for nearly 3k! :grumpy: Ive been driving for two years, 22yo, got a clean licence and to be honest I drive like an old lady (thats how I managed to get over 100mpg avaerage from the Fabia over 35miles)

Can anyone reccomend an insurance company. My mate said that Elephant and Admiral are quite good but id like to hear from people in the know.
Any advice welcome :D

Thanks in advance

Have you tried compare the market?

I'm with Tesco and they were reasonable when I got my Scirocco.

Admiral weren't too bad for my 1.8T golf previous to my Rocco R. Think my premiums were around £750 ish each year (roughly). However, they mugged me off two years running with stupid renewal quotes (£900 down to £550 first year, £870 to £670 for this year & change of car). Changed my supplier and went with direct line; £603 for the year with a better coverage.

TL;dr, research, research and more research. Keep pushing whoever untill they magic up a price that you're happy to pay. Insurance is money for old rope and the suppliers know it.

Thanks for your replies.
Ive tried Confused .com which has provided better quotes but a lot of them are black box companies. Been there done that and hated it :grumpy:
Ill give Adrian Flux a try and see what they come up with as I went through them and they put me in contact with Chriss Knott for my previous car
My mate said that Direct Line were good for his Golf but i dont think theyre very good for younger drivers. All I can do is try.
Admiral was one of the better ones on Confused.com but they didnt have the best coverage and if im getting a newer car then Ill need decent coverage.
Ill keep at it and do some more digging

Thanks

I can vouch for admiral\bell\elephant (they're the same group) as I have been with them since I started driving, about 8 years. I have had one at fault claim and they were really good through the whole thing and still offered me good prices afterwards.
Adrian flux are good for young drivers and modded cars but they can be a pain in the backside from what I have heard if you need to deal with them for anything. They were a nightmare for my friend trying to change his address and also to make a windscreen claim but they were very cheap for him.
