[/img]Hi Chaps
So I parked my car up at the hospital to do a night shift and some absolute plum hit the back of my car and smashed my mirror housing
Currently the light doesn't work but the mirror is in tact as is the motor. It's just the cap and the indicator bulb
Any tips on doing a replacement myself - I like the satisfaction of doing it myself!
Apologies if this has been discussed before

Hi,
Here is the VW workshop guides on how to remove the wing mirror and its various parts - you shouldn't need to remove the entire wing mirror unless it has other damage:
Overview:

Removing entire wing mirror:

Removing outer cap:

Removing mirror glass: (this can be done without the tool....use a very long cable tie to thread behind the mirror glass and join on the other side then pull the glass out, it just pops out of the socket.

Remove interior plastic trim:

Removing indicator and puddle light:

"If the locking hook -5 breaks off a new turn signal must be installed."
Just to reassure you. The locking hook is the bit of clear plastic you can see from inside the car that lights up when the indicator is on. When fitting LED puddle lights both mine broke off immediately I even looked at the wing mirror, virtually before I got the trim tool out of it's box. I refitted the indicator assemblies without them and it looks fine and works fine without them. Doesn't look like anything is broken and you can still easily see if the indicator is on or not.
