Hard wired my dashcam. Works a treat. Hiding the wires took a bit of work though.

Got there in the end. Looks much neater than having it plugged into the 12v socket.dimexi wrote:Hiding the wires in the roof trim takes a day and an AGE!!!!OllieMK wrote:Hard wired my dashcam. Works a treat. Hiding the wires took a bit of work though.

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
Pirelli P Zero's just fitted, now having an MOT!
Watch out when ordering tyres online. Tyres are all good, just 2 have Mercedes compound and 2 have Audi compound.
Shouldnt be any difference really but may have slight difference in wear patterns for them certain cars.
Try and order all 4 at once unlike me 2 and 2.

Had my two fronts changed. Pirelli p zeros as usual.
Need to change my airbag controller (again) this weekend sometime.
Also need to sort my EML/intake manifold issues before its service on Friday

So after the saga of getting a broken airbag controller off eBay (my fault, the fact it was £40 should have been telling), finally got another for 99£ and fitted it today. I have now taken my steering wheel off 4 times in just over a year! I think I can do the cruise control retrofit with my eyes closed.

New fronts fitted Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2,s same as backs... Tracking was shot to pieces so had that sorted too (fecking pot holes) .... More new led bulbs for my plates.. Thinking about ordering my inside LEDs to fit next weekend

Yeah, I dont mind Phil!
You'd have a long trip to make though? Except I bring my tools when I visit friends/family back in london on one of my weekends.
You are around the M25 arent you?

Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
any guide on how to take steering wheel off/ do u have to replace any parts of u do? Got a scratchy noise behind it when turning the wheel, sounds like grating on plastic, suspect something broken behind there.dimexi wrote:So after the saga of getting a broken airbag controller off eBay (my fault, the fact it was £40 should have been telling), finally got another for 99£ and fitted it today. Re: What did you do to your Scirocco today?
UKLee wrote this guide on cruise control retrofitting. It's a brilliant guide and has instructions on taking off the steering wheel. It's the hardest bit.
The grating plastic you hear is probably your cowls not sitting properly. If you look at my upper cowl in that picture (my upper cowl isnt actually shown in that... I could upload a pic if you want), you'll see some wear marks on the top... I had that for a year! My upper cowl broke and I replaced it, but I had to replace the lower too and forgot. I've done it now.
the guide will have all you need
Edit: You dont need to replace any parts when you do, except the cowl if damaged. VW recommend you change the steering wheel bolt, but as Lee's guide says, you can clean it and reapply some thread locker.
