Been a reader on here for a while but have finally found a Scirocco with all but one extra on it that i was after.

As title says, its at Performance Specialist Cars Ltd in Rochdale. Which is a 450 mile round trip for me so if its anyones on here i would be so grateful if you could tell me if there were any problems with it before i decide to get this one.

What should i look out for when buying a 2.0tsi dsg? Any specific parts that should have been replaced? Its on 60,000 miles.

The DSG oil and filter should have been changed at 40k miles.

Listen out for any rattling from the cam chain as the tensioner on these are known to fail.

Pretty sure plugs should be changed at 60k miles so check when it was last serviced and what exactly was done.

Thats for that. The dealer has said that they will service the car before anyone buys it. Its a shame the car os so far away, i will just have to trust them to be honest with me.

I have seen that the AA will go and check over the car for you for a fee, maybe i should look into doing that?

The car does not have sat nav or DAB does anyone no how much the unit will be to retrofit?

An RNS510 unit which has sat nav could be picked up for £300 upwards.. If you want one with DAB, you are looking at £600 upwards I suppose. also, you'd need to fit a DAB amplifier, if not already fitted in the motor

As an alternative to the RNS510, you may want to consider one of these;

You may also want to consider the RNS315 which is also available with DAB plus has integrated Bluetooth

Thank you. Personally i actually prefer the KENWOOD to the RNS models. To me it seems to be a bit more classy than the RNS, plys has everything built in and can still be used with steering controls and MDI [emoji3] [emoji106]

Yeah, I always wanted the kenwood unit, but VW were charging too much to fit it, and I didnt end up doing my research properly... So got an RNS instead

I will most probably get an in-car entertainment place to fit mine if i was to get it.

I have put down a deposit on a different Scirocco, white 2.0 tsi dsg, with xenons which is quite rare i have noticed, also has heated leather and the 19" wheels in black, plus power fold mirrors which i believe are a optional extra, i could be wrong though.

Is there a good way to check if the xenons are real or just projectors units with HIDs in? Or am is that i silly thing to check

If the Xenons are OEM, they will be self levelling and have headlight washers.

Also, the DRLs are located inboard. I have a MY12 with Xenons and it's got the option within the Settings to switch the DRLs on and off.

Yes, power fold mirrors with puddle lights is an option.

Thanks for that i'll check it on when i go and view it. I have noticed it does have the little square where there washer jet would be if they are OEM so i am pretty sure they are. I'll check out the MFD setting too just to be sure. What are your thoughts on the Dectane DRL/Indicator units? I have seen these online and am not 100% on them as yet. IMO the scirocco is missing a well placed DRL

I'm not a fan of any DRLs so I have mine switched off.

I read various threads about people having quality issues with Dectane units but they could have resolved those issues by now.

Also MY12 (registered after 7/2011) cars with Xenons have LED number plate lights fitted from the factory.

Here are a couple of pics, not sure if you can tell if they are actual xenons from these though. I'll just have to check the MFD for the option to turn off DRL.

Those are factory fit Xenons
As you can see the DRL is inboard.
