Hello everyone,

I'm about to lower my Rocco. It's a 2.0 TDI. There are a few options on the table. I can see you talking about H&R and Eibach, but Vmaxx Springs gives 40mm or 30mm drop, there are 2 options. What do you guys recommend? I need to know if there are any complaints on Vmaxx because H&R costs 230€, Eibach 210€ and Vmaxx 140€!! Is there any big difference on the materials used or its just pure marketing and you pay the brand?

Eibach are €165 (£118) on German eBay. That's what i'd be going for.

Well, I bought some Dectanes for 169€ and they broke. I asked for refund and now I have to spend that money on something else on that store. Can't buy from eBay.
In my honest opinion, I think Eibach isn't low enough. As Shaun said, the rear could go a little lower. I talked about Eibach just to compare quality because I know they are pretty good. Don't know about V-Maxx quality. I would love to have some feedbacks from users that already had them or have knowledge about it. For me, the height on H&R is perfect, 35mm drop.V-Maxx has a 40mm drop which is nice too. Don't know what to do. 140€ vs 230€. There must be a difference somewhere!! Or it's just the name I'm buying (H&R). Damn!

I didn't go for v-maxx for similar reasons, no one could say if the ride was crashy or not. I'm only on eibachs as a well priced used pair came up for sale on here or I'd of picked h&r

I wish someone had them to give us a feedback. Is there any difference on how it's made? I mean, it's just a simple spring. It's not like coilovers, and about V-Maxx coils I heard good things and bad things... I just don't know what to do yet. Damn! How hard can V-Maxx springs be? Harder thank H&R? Hmmmm

Unfortunately I think it's a chance you will have to take to find out. I doubt they can be that bad though.

I think so mate... ;) I just wonder if 35mm on H&R or 40mm on V-Maxx isn't too much for stock shocks. Of course they will worn out quicker... but how quicker?

Not sure if I'm imagining reading/hearing this but any lower than 40mm and it's advised you change the anti roll bar or something. Not entirely sure so I'm probably making it up [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Can you guys explain me what progressive springs are? H&R, Eibach and V-Maxx are progressive.

Springs are fixed rate or progressive. Springs are rated as lb/in or N/mm, basically if it's 100lb/in the spring will compress an inch for every 100 lb you sit on it.

A fixed rate spring will for example be 100lb/in for the whole movement of the spring (until the coils touch, coil bound) so 100 lb and it compresses 1 inch, 200lb 2 inch etc etc, to 600lb and 6 inch. In appearance the spring will have constant diameter coils at a fixed distance apart. This is often better for a track car as rate can be chosen for handling with one person but stick 5 adults and a load of luggage in and it drops too far and scrapes over speed bumps.

A progressive spring will start softer and get harder as it compresses. 100lb will compress it 1 inch, 200lb 1.7 inch, 300lb 2 inch or whatever. In appearance the spring will have a thinner gap between coils at one end than the other. This is often better for a road car as the softer rate at the start makes it more comfortable but stick 5 adults and a load of luggage in and it gets stiffer and doesn't drop too far and scrape over speed bumps.

I think I'm going for V-Maxx... I'm going to give it a try. 40mm is just on limit.

Can you guys tell me if this drop number is calculated after springs are on the car and new or is it calculated after 5000 miles? Because springs might drop a few mm after being used for a few miles because of the weight of the car.

On H&R, did it drop overall 35mm or more, after use?

Mine is lowered on V-maxx 40mm springs. The ride is pretty hard but i dont complain since i have the Dcc and in comfort mode it reminds me alot of the car in normal mode before the springs were installed. But that said its not bad at all in my opinion. I cant compare the V-maxx springs to H&R since i have not driven a car or been in a car with H&Rs yet.

Springs have been on the car for 4 weeks now and the height has dropped 33mm from stock if my measurements are correct!

A perfect drop in the front but i still want more low on the rear :)

Go for it! Here in Norway the H&Rs are close to twice the price of the V-maxx springs. That and the extra 5mms the V-maxx springs go was my reason to buy them!

Yeah, i would not buy the Dectanes mate... Took them almost 2 weeks just to give me a reply about my taillights when they broke. Its alot of devided opinions about them so if your not like i was and just HAD to buy them, then dont. :)

This picture is with my wintertires wich are 225/40s, they make the car look taller because the small stretch on the tire makes the arch gap bigger, just so you know :)

Amazing pics!! ;) Yep, here in Portugal V-Maxx cost 140€. H&R is almost 240€. I'm going for V-Maxx without any doubt!

Loved your pics and yeah, on last picture, it's so high!! ahaha But it might drop a little bit more. Since you bought 40mm, shouldn't it drop 40mm? ahahah Well, i don't have DCC, it might drop more or less, don't know. Maybe that's why it only dropped 33mm yet.

I have Vmaxx springs on my roc, the ride is obviously a lot harsher, but you could also say you can feel the road below you more.. Haha! For the price, the drop they gave the car and their performance, I am very pleased with them!! I would recommend the vmaxx springs to anyone!
