VW warranty administered by Mondial is good amd the closest to the OEM warranty. They offer various options with different levels of excess. Phone number is on VW website.
I've heard that warranty companies are terrible at customer service when you need them. They make you nag and nag and provide proof to make them pay out. I'm not sure if this is true though, it's the main reason why I don't really want one.

I claimed on my Mondial insurance on two occasions: once for a dsg clutch pack and once part of a combined claim for rear spring replacement and an emissions failure (which included having all injectors replaced). No issues whatsoever. Cost of the insurance was £280 including 12 months RAC, zero excess.
Just wondering whether it might be difficult, or at least expensive, to get a Mondial warranty if there has been a gap between manufacturer's warranty and extended warranty.
My mate has a Landrover Discovery 4 and cost of a years Landrover warranty was about £900. Checking about, he ran a quote on quentin wilsons little moneyspinner idea, and for similar cover it came in at over £1500. They had different levels of cover based on how much labour rate per hour you wanted. Landrover charge £120 per hour and their warranty pays that rate. Warranty wise had £100 or £150 per hour so he had to select the £150 rate cor comparison purposes. He declined to take it out.
Next day he got a call from them asking why he didn't take it, so he told them. Bloke said he could have a look at the figures and come back with a revised quote which he later did. Except he;d knocked the labour rate down to £100 per hour (which wouldn't cover the going rate), added a £100 excess to the policy, and removed the courtesy car, and the cost was now exactly the same as Landrovers all covered warranty.
Richard says to him "D'you think I'm daft? All you've done is taken off stuff I need and charged me less. I wouldn't buy your warranty if you were giving it away!"
Moral of the story, either manufacturers warranty or put the oney in the bank just in case.
I'd used them for many years on varying cars. I needed to make a claim for a steering rack on a previous car, which was my first claim that I'd ever made with them and it was declined!!! As I was 1 day off on the qualifying period. They would not budge at all even after all the years of paying their premiums. Never again.
I cant remember who told me but I think you pay 250 a year and they cover you. worth checking out. Or just make sure you have money saved in case anything goes wrong
With my 2001 Golf TDI, I used to put a bit away each month for repairs. Whenever something did go wrong, it was always pretty cheap to put right.
With the Scirocco being almost a decade newer than this car, I guess I am paranoid that repair bills could hit the thousands if something major goes wrong. That's where the warranty would give me piece of mind. However, giving £300-400 to a warranty company each year, for a hopefully reliable car, could be throwing money down the drain. Especially if whatever goes wrong comes down to "wear & tear".
Thinking more to take the risk and just stick £400 quid in the savings account each year.
