I have a 2013 GTS with a clean HPI and no history of this being previously repaired. Does anyone elses look like mine? There like rubber bungs with a hole in the middle, I pressume to let any water out.

The corrosion is a known issue with the earlier Rocs. I'm pretty sure it's covered in the buying guide on here.

Mr OCD, how did you get on at VW today?
Mine is booked to be seen tomorrow.
I have the same issue, although it's not as bad, it's smaller and only around one of the three studs on the boot.
A couple of other points on the car I'd like to fix too.

All logged with VW ... An engineer has been booked to measure paint (I already know it is original paint), take pictures and create report.

Should be early next week.

Typical. Couldn't find it when I looked prior to buying the car last month.

I'm pushing for a replacement boot anyway. I don't want it repaired.

If its anything like the Golfs you'll have a 12 year corrosion warranty, 100's of people have had their front wings replaced/repaired because of rust issues on the MK5.

So I checked mine, '59 Roc, one hole is fine and the other has a slight bubbling.

What does this mean? Is it something I can ignore or what?

Is it just cosmetic or is there something more going on

I checked mine this morning...my12. ..pleased to see there is no bubbling at all...my car is white so any rust would stand out like a turd on a wedding cake!..wonder if it was a 'batch' of substandard tailgates that are at fault?
Most scirocco's are all the same but some are different...

Had to chase VW again but they assure me its all in order. They can't proceed without Bodyshop report who are being rather slow contacting me ... Will be making calls Monday.

Just dropped the rocco off ... it's gone to Inchcape VW paint and body.

So far rather impressed with them... they have listened to my instructions carefully.

Estimated 10 day turn around depending on what needs doing... they reckon possible replacement tailgate.

Got phone call this afternoon... You can pick your car up after 4pm...

Turns out the corrosion is worse than expected so they are ordering a brand new tailgate from VW.

Will be returning the car as soon as they let me know parts are in for permanent repair.

Well seems like that was too easy... got a phone call today from the body shop saying Bolton VW will only contribute 75% the cost of the repair.

Yeah... we'll see about that.

Probably just trying it on, it's corrosion guaranteed for 10years surely? Prepare for some witty back and forth ! Good luck.

It's actually 12 years ... Indeed I'm preparing for it. I need evidence that this is a common issue on these cars.

Can anyone help?

Why do u need to prove common issue ? Surely if there's an anti corrosion guarantee and there's corrosion it's covered ? That's how I would view it?
