DSG fluid

Post by matthewlancs »

Just booked my car in for the big 4 year, 40,0000 mile service.....

Been quoted £180 including VAT for the full service including a new set of spark plugs which I think is not a bad price to be honest.

I've asked them to replace the DSG fluid whilst it is in as per the servicing schedule and they've quoted £160 for this (inc VAT) which sounds like a lot of money for a fluid change? However, I've never had a DSG car before so no knowledge of what the going rate is?

Thoughts please!

Indys with the right kit can generally do it cheaper but the oil change has to be done hot with special (expensive) oil. The oil alone if you do it right will be over £100, 5.5 ltrs are needed for correct flush/refill, but it can be done with only 4.5ltrs saving a little.

DSG oil is quite expensive and there is also a filter too that needs changed.

The car needs to be connected to VCDS to get the right level at the right temperature.

£160 is actually quite a good price as the 2 times I had it dine on my previous car it was around £180

Cheers guys. Like I said I had no idea as to how much that should cost so the reassurance is great.

Sounds like a good price for that too along with a good service price.
