Rear view camera?

Post by iAmbu »

Hi guys

I think I remember reading in a magazine that an option on the new Mk VI Golf will be a rear view reversing camera, which will be hidden within / under the boot lid VW badge, so that when you select Reverse, the VW badge hinges out, allowing the camera to display an image/video on the in-dash screen.

What are people's opinions on the possibility of this setup being retro-fitted to the 'rocco? Would need some serious adaption to the 'rocco I suspect, but may be possible?????

Would be awesome if so!

the badge on a golf operates the bootlid, the badge on the scirocco is purely a badge, the boot is released from the fob or internally on the drivers door, on the demo i drove with parking sensors and sat nav when you selected reverse you got a graphic showing where obstructions were, not sure if you get that on the normal stereo, hope so

Will this still be the case on the new MKVI Golf though? If you had a camera fitted into the hinged badge, then surely it would foul the space where your fingers go when opening the boot?

Maybe the new Golf will be similar to the 'rocco, boot opening by the key or a button inside the car?

Anyone know?

Picture of how it works on Passat CC. Think it is available on the new Golf but as previously said this setup can't be done on the Scirocco.

Yes that's exactly how it works on the new golf. Clever.

Where there's a will, there's a way.... ;-)

Would be awesome if they introduced this on to the options list for the Scirocco.

Hmm you're more than likely right. In general how long does it take for VW to launch a facelift on a new model?

Not that I'm eager for a Scirocco facelift you must understand, I love the current spec!!

It should be at least 3 years. VW don't tend to tinker too much.
