Golf or Scirocco
Having trouble deciding between the two to be honest.
Looking at the Golf MK7 GT 2.0T 3Door or the standard 140TDI Scirocco.
Just dont want to get stuck with a car that uses older technology & also may have an update this year.
Does anyone know when the 150TDI Golf engine will come across to the Rocco & the update will hit?
In no rush but I expect the waiting lists are usually 3-4 months, so probably 1st Sept time onwards.
Thanks

If your coming from a Scirroco R (as per your details) you are unlikely to be happy with either

Re: Golf or Scirocco
My hunch is that we'll have to wait until the Mk4 with MQB platform before we see the new 150ps diesel engine (same goes for the 184bhp version too). Others may know more.
May I ask why you're going from an 'R' to a 140 TDI? That's quite a difference

Me too - especially the interior. But the GTI/GTD looks like being close to £30k !!!!
Re: Golf or Scirocco
A well specced 170 Scirocco is close to £30k too.....I'd go for the Golf. More practical and the doors don't weigh a ton!

Probably get better tech on the roc gt140 but maybe more power on the golf. but the roc definitely has the better tech in my opinion. I'm waiting for my gt 140 to be delivered at the mo and will give a further update once I have it.

For me it will probably be a Golf GTD next unless the road condition worsens and I push towards an Audi Q3.

Better and more up to date tech on the MK7 Golf. Rocco is a few years behind now.hashizzle82 wrote:Probably get better tech on the roc gt140 but maybe more power on the golf. but the roc definitely has the better tech in my opinion. Re: Golf or Scirocco
I just find the Golf looks a bit dull, hopefully the GTI/GTD will not look as dull. New tech wise, the Roc has been left far behind by the MK7 Golf, and the Roc isn't looking as special now that everything is cloning it - the latest cloner being the Renault Clio. If I go for another car like the Roc it will be a TT. The only thing putting me off the TT is the replacement due next year - will it be an improvement or not? Being new out there will be very little bargaining power on a haggle - you'll be paying full RRP on that for a year or 2. All said it will probably be a Golf GTD for me, although an A1 S-Line is very tempting, saw one the other day and it was beautiful inside, is a current "trendy" car, so should hold it's value well. The new Leon is out for me - even though it has lots of nice tech (like all LED lighting speccable, and the "mood" lighting inside) it still looks and feels a bit cheap inside (had a look at the dealership this weekend).

Re: Golf or Scirocco
I'm also eyeing up the new Golf GTD (or possibly the GTI). Looks really nice and the new 184bhp diesel with 60mpg is enticing (although the BMW TwinPower diesels still beat VW hands down). The high insurance isn't though Why is it you have to pay more for an Golf GTD over a Scirocco with the same engine??
I'm also considering getting a second hand Scirocco 170 TDI DSG to tide me over until the new Mk 4 Scirocco comes out with all the new tech and engines. However, when I come to sell it it will be the old shape and therefore be worth less. Humm, it's all getting complicated.

Re: Golf or Scirocco
You can now see all the GTI/GTD details on volkswagen.de including the new price which pretty much looks like the old MK6 price, but doesn't quite relate to UK pricing (the Germans pay 1000 Euros more for a GTD than a GTI), so UK pricing between MK6 and 7 GTI/GTD should be roughly unchanged (barring general annual price rises - are we due one since the pound is getting hammered by the Euro again?)
