Been shopping around for the best insurance deal as i will be declaring my increase in power modification (Tuning box). I've tried the ones that advertise on here and over on S Net and their prices just dont compete with the mainstream insurers.
Anyone got any recommendations of companys that are worth a shot before i pass over £500?
Not sure what the deal is with recommendations on this forum, which is sponsored by an insurance firm, so please delete this post if I've done a bad...
I also run a kit car so learned early on to go to a specialist. I've always done best with Glynwood or Adrian Flux, for both cars.
I'm with esure as well. Seem to look favourably on Sciroccos compared to some of the other big companies. Think they allow a 25% increase in stock power without incurring extra cost although you do of course have to declare it.
Don't forget the obvious stuff, like mentioning you're in an owners' club (forum member is normally enough) and once you've found who is the cheapest see if you can click through to them via quidco and get a load of cashback.
I have a funny feeling if you have that tuning box mod already fitted and other things non standard, you'd better be quick about it. As technically dstill, you are uninsured right now if so. You'll be surprised how quickly your current insurance company may abandon you ..... instantly! No arguments. Its not about when you are going to declare them, doesn't come into it unless you intend to move and then fit the mods with their full knowledge. If you have not already informed the current insurance company ......., the rest is in your policy documents.

sometimes paying a little more is beneficial for peace of mind & good customer service, iirc its admiral who will cover mods but in the event of anything they don't replace them the car is returned standard
Unfortunately when you modify you do exclude yourself from a large part of the market, some of he larger ompanies limit the % power increase and can get twitchy on higher value cars
Worth throwing Brentacre into the mix and Prestige supperrates.co.uk as we're competitive
