Water pump replacement 1.4 TSi 160PS

Post by janherko »

Dear Rocco folks,

can anyone please advise me on what is the best replacement option for the 1.4 TSi engine water pump?
I´ve just experienced the infamous coolant/water leak, had the pressure test carried out with result of malfunctioning water pump and suggestion to replace it...the OEM no. is 03C 121 004 J, original costs cca 270 EUR if delivered through my VW garage...
My car is 07/2009, 107 400km
Is there any other way to get this part cheaper online?
I´m in Slovakia, maybe some UK/German suppliers would be able to ship it out, too...
Many thanks

I´ve done some research, there are a few specialists in water pumps like Quinton Hazell, Geba, etc., the cost difference between them and the original part from my authorized VW service is negligible...

Have you checked if the relevant VAG part/s are cheaper at a Skoda garage? The price disparity between VW and Skoda for the exact same parts can be quite big.

yes, you`re right...I`ll try to check out some different Skoda dealers around here, the thing is my VW dealer is a Skoda dealer, simultaneously...so I doubt there would be any significant difference...
thanks anyway

Not really VW and Skoda dealers are linked to the same system, the retail prices are the same.

They have an exchange program actually (product number ends in "X") - really interesting and offers a bargain deal
