bluetooth..AGAIN.

Post by Bigder »

Hi, I've just bought a 10 plate 2.0 gt tdi (170) in black and i've just joined the forum.
absolutely love my new car but I need some advice, I've read some of the bluetooth questions already and still cant work out what I need.
I have the RCD510 head unit and when I go into settings it says the bluetooth audio is on, however I can't seem to get my phone to find it.
I've checked under both front seats but cant find any module???
Can I buy a module to do handsfree / bluetooth??? is it an easy fit?

any help would be appreciated

cheers

Looks like your car has no module fitted then. You can buy a Bluetooth module from many different sources, VW ebay, specialist car sat-nav/audio company etc - how 'easy' it is to fit really depends on your experience. It will likely need coding too - if it were me I would use a specialsit to fit it...

hi Mark,
Thanks for replying,I went to the dealers today and they checked. Your right I have no module.
They actually recommended I get a parrot system, which is a pity because I really wanted to keep
my car standard and using the standard head unit.
I've fitted car stereos into previous cars and wouldn't mind having a go if it was just plug and play but I don't know if my head unit would take a Bluetooth module.
It's an rcd510

Search on Ebay for rcd510 vw bluetooth and there are quite a lot of boxes with wiring and microphone, expext to pay 160-200 for the parts.

The latest VW Bluetooth kit works beautifully with the RCD 510 so long as you have a multi-function steering wheel. You can operate your phone via the 510 using the dedicated touch screen and you get a display in the (Highline) MFD too - its really well integrated - I have it in my current car (a Golf VI, Roc on order!!).

PS - Dealer is bonkers for suggesting a Parrot - go for the OEM set up...
