Oil Level

Post by scirocco »

4000 miles on the clock and my oil level is half way down the drip stick are you guys finding a similar usage? One question what oil does the Scirocco require as my manual states that the specification was unavailable at the time of print. Im guessing 5W/30....

Here you go mate, this is the oil you need. As for oil consumption, the tfsi engine in the MKV golf had a well documented thirst for the black stuff, this newer tsi engine does not seem too bad but I think its prudent to check your oil level once per week. Half a dipstick in 4000 miles is well in tolerance so I would not worry, it will drink less as it gets older.

sir_rocco you've got similar mileage to mine since breakin into the five figure category, has yours used any yet, i'd have gone through a litre in the A3, not had to top the scirocco up at all

Andy,
put about 1/3 litre in at 8000, car was serviced by APS at 10000 so will see what it continues to use. Currently 12000 and not needing any yet.
