Really thought I knew VW Bluetooth

Post by dstill »

I know this has been discussed to death but the more i read the more i get confused about VW bluetooth capability.

I want to ascertain if i can upgrade the Bluetooth so i can text from the head unit, use speech control and also read my texts on the MFD, if its at all possible.

I have a 2012 Scirocco GT, it has, factory fitted, RCD510, Bluetooth and multi function wheel. I have heard about upgrdaing the module for various reasons. Is it a matter of changing the module to get these functions i mention above to operate or will i need to upgrade to an RNS 510 for instance. Just for clarity i have a Blackberry and it works flawlessly so i dont have the usual connection problems that people with iphones have i'm peased to say.

My current module part number is 5KO 035 730 D. I have a spare module from my previous car, a MK 6 Golf, part number 1ZO O35 729 E, not sure if this will give me them functions mentioned but i have tried to connect it to my car and it doesnt recognise it

Also, can anyone answer in laymans terms what Rsap and ADP2 are in relation to mobile phones.
Sorry that this may be boring but i just cant seem to find a stargiht forward answer. :?

A2DP and rSAP are just specific standardised protocols that are used by devices communicating via Bluetooth
