Re: what tyres is everyone rocking?
Eagle F1's on mine but going for Pilot Cup 2 which have recently been released in 235/40/18 when I'm due. Just don't go out if it's below 10 degrees, or wet, or moist, or if the road looks even slightly damp. Cup 2s don't work in low temps at all. Tried to drive a boxter spyder with a set on in the...

Re: Which petrol for the R?
Super unleaded only. You otherwise run the risk of pre-ignition (knocking) which can ultimately damage the engine (pistons, cylinder wall etc.). Engine has knock sensors which retard the ignition to prevent "pinking" if 95 grade fuel is used. Yes but knock sensors are reactive and therefo...

Re: ROC r mpg
I got a new best yesterday...
37.1mpg over 450 miles: 95% of which was at 65mph on the motorway, remaining 5% was town driving. This equates to a tank range of about 448 miles which tallied perfectly with how many miles I had left before I filled up again (50 miles remaining, having done 400).

Re: ROC r mpg
On a long run (400+ miles), my R will get 33mpg - 90% motorway (at 65mph) and 10% urban.
My long term average is 27.8mpg.

Re: Tapping Sound from Engine Bay
You'll struggle to find a timing chain tensioner where the R is concerned as the R is belt driven.mick 49 wrote:it could be a warn timing chain tensioner if the noise is from the right hand side of the engine about £300 to fix

Re: Ridgeway VW Newbury - my experience
Oh yeah you've got to expect some form of hesitation from dealers as soon as you change the car. i'll use them for parts still although they've messed ordering parts up before haha but that's neither here nor there. I also fully understand their reactions and give them credit for that, but there ar...

Re: Ridgeway VW Newbury - my experience
Hmm... For balance, I've used (and continue to use) Ridgeway VW Newbury numerous times and they have been excellent every single time (my car's also modified). If I had been the dealer, the moment the car started smoking as a result of a [potentially] dangerous modification you had made, I'd of insi...

Re: Back to reality . . .
Is it a DSG? At that mileage I'd certainly want to make sure it's had at least two DSG oil changes. However... Don't let the mileage put you off! My car is coming up to 65k now and will be on 80k before the year is out. It spends the majority of its time on the motorway at 70mph (to aid mpg) however...

Re: MrBarry123 - Scirocco R
It's complete!* Admittedly a copy and paste from PH however it covers what I want to cover. As of today at 2pm the wrap has been completed, along with the fitment of the front carbon flitter and the blacking out of the badges. I think it's fantastic - above and beyond what I hoped for. I have to adm...

Re: MrBarry123 - Scirocco R
I'm not sure unfortunately. The next time I'm in my local dealer, I'll get them to have a look.
The car feels absolutely no different with these fitted. The tyres however are next-level compared with the, admittedly still very good, Goodyear tyres on previously.

Yes, that's mine - nice spot. I don't have active Instagram or Twitter accounts - hence the anonymity. Looking forward to getting it now.
As well as the wrap, they're fitting the Kerscher splitter and changing the badges and exhaust tips to gloss black.

Re: DSG judder question
Mondial won't put up a fuss if there's an issue however at the same time won't just repair it because it's juddering slightly. You'll have to sit tight OP and wait until you've convinced the garage that there is a problem which is affecting the way the car performs and/or the clutch packs give out. ...

Re: Advice New Scirocco R Owner !?!
Assuming your current wheels are OEM, get them painted.
Otherwise you'll end up running an inferior wheel to the ones you have already bud. The OEM wheels will likely be lighter, stronger and harder-wearing than any replicas.

Not from Croydon area I'm afraid - was just there for Tuning Werkes. Another little update - one very visible, one not so much. The Scirocco Cup spoiler was installed today - my local VW bodyshop doing an excellent job. Whilst the spoiler isn't to everyone's tastes, I love it; especially when you se...
