MrBarry123 - Scirocco R

Post by MrBarry123 »

Evening all,

Had this since March 2014 however have only just registered here.

Image

It's had the VWR springs installed today by Tuning Werkes in Croydon. Just a quick note on them; absolutely brilliant. Reuben is one of those guys that inspires confidence in the works he completes and I wouldn't for a second hesitate to recommend any VAG owner taking their car to him for work.

Once the springs have settled, I'll take another picture of the car.

The Scirocco Cup Spoiler will be installed at some point (w/c 13th April) and then it's booked in to be wrapped by Yiannimize on 28th May in a matte grey finish with the wheels becoming gloss black.

The plan is for it then to be taken to Stage 2 so it'll be running about 330bhp - this work completed by TW.

Will keep updating as it progresses.

Welcome. Lovely car!
Got a few mods already planned. make sure you post some pics up when it gets wrapped.

If you don't mind me asking. How much is it costing you to get wrapped there.? PM if you want. Judging by how many new top end cars he buys for him self and then sells on he must charge quite a bit.

So a few changes to the car recently...

Firstly, VWR springs were fitted to the car - leaving the car looking like this.

Secondly and completed today, Volkswagen Motorsport alloys were added - along with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tyres. The car now looks like this.

The Scirocco Cup spoiler is being fitted next week.

Looks good, mate.

Out of interest, what did you do with the old alloys? If you're interested in selling them, let me know!

Not from Croydon area I'm afraid - was just there for Tuning Werkes.

Another little update - one very visible, one not so much. The Scirocco Cup spoiler was installed today - my local VW bodyshop doing an excellent job. Whilst the spoiler isn't to everyone's tastes, I love it; especially when you see the little side fins in the wing mirrors. :hyper:

The Fiscon Bluetooth unit the car had has also been replaced with the OEM VW system by HazzyDayz - finally getting rid of the annoying microphone on the driver's side A pillar. Great service from HazzyDayz.

Finally, the Kerscher carbon front splitter for the R arrived this week however won't be installed until the car is wrapped.

Car looks great. I like the spoiler. But I don't think it looks right being black. Should be white imo.

Yes, that's mine - nice spot. I don't have active Instagram or Twitter accounts - hence the anonymity. Looking forward to getting it now.

As well as the wrap, they're fitting the Kerscher splitter and changing the badges and exhaust tips to gloss black.

I'm not sure unfortunately. The next time I'm in my local dealer, I'll get them to have a look.

The car feels absolutely no different with these fitted. The tyres however are next-level compared with the, admittedly still very good, Goodyear tyres on previously.

It's complete!*

Admittedly a copy and paste from PH however it covers what I want to cover.

As of today at 2pm the wrap has been completed, along with the fitment of the front carbon flitter and the blacking out of the badges.

I think it's fantastic - above and beyond what I hoped for. I have to admit that whilst 99.9% of me knew it'd look how I wanted, there was a tiny bit of me that was slightly nervous at the end result (probably because it's such a massive change to the overall look of the car). However, it looks exactly as I imagined it and I'm massively pleased.

Something I found slightly strange was how the car received three direct complements within the space of the first two hours I was driving it. The colour has obviously made a difference because when it was white, it received none.

Regarding the wrap (accepting that I've just got it so my opinions may come across as a bit gushy)... The level of finish is outstanding and a couple of people who have seen it and who don't get the idea of wrapping a car couldn't believe it was a vinyl wrap instead of a paint finish. Yiannimize have truly outdone themselves and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. Their level of professionalism is top draw and the quality of the work speaks volumes. They're also a thoroughly decent group of people who happily go out of their way to assist. They may be slightly more expensive than other companies out there however, for me, I feel like I've got excellent value for money.

A couple of pictures for those that are interested.
