Out of the blue last week I had a call from the dealers where I bought the car saying it was due a 2 year air con service.
As the car lives about 80 miles from them now I politely declined the offer. I've not had Bath VW who did the last service a couple of months ago get in touch about this.
Has anyone else had the 2 year air-con service? If so what does it involve and what's the cost?
Thanks

Re: Air Con Service
I had the same card. Enquired and told £70. But here's a tip...... Ask the price of the brake fluid & aircon refreshed together at the 3rd year service. I was quoted £99. So doing on the 3rd service instead.
There is no scheduled service requirment in VW's schedules for aircon.

Re: Air Con Service
Was it a Inchcape owned garage as they seem to like the 2 year Air Con (con) call, best bit is on their website they recommend it at three years!!
Wait for it to pack up I say, never known a car where it didn't work....................

Re: Air Con Service
Declined mine at 2 year service, but dealers made a big cock up with tyre pressures at service and offered free air con service- smells nicer according to my wife but otherwise no significant difference.
Tip is when using air con, towards end of journey turn air con off, keep fan on and turn heater to high- this dries out air con trunking and stops bacterial growth. Its the bacteria that cause bad smells and can be a health hazard

Re: Air Con Service
Aircon is worth servicing every 2 years.
The air conditioning system relies on the refrigerant to carry round the lubricating oil for the compressor. If the refrigerant level has fallen significantly there may be insufficient oil in the system to lubricate the compressor, leading to compressor failure. Would you run your cars engine with no oil?
