Lexi is due next week!

Post by Scott_mac »

Just had the phone call from the dealer and Lexi will be delivered next Wednesday.

I pleaded, offering to collect and everything, but next Wednesday is the earliest date!

I'm off for a 9 day road trip around Scotland from the following Saturday so she should get a nice introduction to the world quite soon - I don't have any confirmed info as yet, but do Scirocco's need a 1000 mile service (oil change) as per many cars? That'll have some impact on how far I drive!!!!!

 :D :hyper:

As engines a run in on the bench and tolerances are much tighter these days, manufacturers don't require an early service like the olden days.

Interestingly, if you buy a new motorbike it still gets serviced at 600 miles but probably more to do with safety plus they tend to rev a little higher :-)

Thanks Cuprabob, i took the view that as an auto it'll shift up early anyway, so i'll have a few excursions to the higher rev ranges....

As for Lexi, love her, just the one pic so far as I've been driving - was also taken with an iPhone!

Fantastic to drive, love the DSG though remembering when you've started playing with the paddles can be tricky so you don't look like an arse exiting the next junction and forgetting you have to do something!!!

Handling is leagues ahead of the Avensis, unsurprisingly, but the whole car just feels so solid, it deals with bumps and dodgy road surfaces much better than the Avensis too, which surprises me.

Only disappointing thing so far is that the stereo really does seem a bit poor, i haven't tweaked it much yet but think i may have to upgrade the speakers!!

Thanks I was very pleased with it. Took a punt when ordering as I hadn't seen the colour in the flesh, but that was part of the appeal, figuring you wouldn't see loads of them around!

My previous car was a Golf GTi in Shadow Blue (predecessor of Night Blue) which is very similar. The rarity of that colour on the GTi added to the enjoyment and I'm sure you'll find the same thing with your roc. Mine is black simply because I couldn't convince myself that having the same colour twice in a row was a good idea. Next time....

Only ever seen 2 others in same colour as my current: Pewter Grey - very rare colour (and not because it is a bad colour).

I see about 10 candy whites every day, the odd black one, the odd rising blue (including one in our works car park). There will be 2 rising blues in the works car park the week after next. Seen 1 Salsa red, a few reflex silvers, 1 opal silver. Never seen a night blue in the flesh.
2013 - Tornado Red MK7 Golf GTD on order
2011-2013 - Rising Blue 170GT
2009-2011 - Pewter Roc 140GT
2007-2009 - Tornado Red Golf 170TDI GT
2005-2007 - Black Pearl Golf 140TDI GT
2003-2005 - Black Pearl Polo 1.9TDI

White and Rising Blue are definitely the most common around here... seen one red and one grey other than that they're not too common! Am certainly very happy with the colour, also the headlining is cream/white which makes the interior look much more airy (that might be standard, i'm not sure)
