Latest Premium Bluetooth Module

Post by andreavassallo »

Hi guys,

There seems to be some confusion on the subject. I have the factory fitted premium bluetooth with module 5N0 035 730 B on my scirocco (end 2009 with white MDF+). Basically this module is rSAP only. Now I am about to change this module to a more recent model so I could use the bluetooth functionality with non rSAP phones like the iPhone.

After some searching it seems that the latest models which support this are these two:

3C8 035 730 A (2010/2011)
5N0 035 730 D (2011)

On the internet I found that they are exactly the same... however I don't think that makes sense no? Why two models with different part numbers then?
It is said that the 5N0 035 730 D is the latest one available, however I could not find it in any volkswagon documentation/brochure.

Could anyone kindly shed some light on this?
Also, would such an upgrade need VAG-COM re-coding? Some say yes, others say no... Any ideas?

Thank you all, appreciate your feedback

I've already done this swap on my R, will get you the part number and details.
I didn't need to use VAGCOM.

My R came with the 5N0 035 730 C Module which is Rsap only. I think the D one you mentioned is the lastest, but could still be Rsap only - not sure.

From researching I believe there are 2 modules available, I ordered the 9W7 module from VW Part Code: 7P6 035 730 C
List price is around the £399 mark but I got 10% off at the local VW dealership just for asking and it arrived next business day for collection.

Changeover is easy -
With the ignition off (keys out), pull the current bluetooth module out from under the driver seat
Remove it carefully from the foam box it's in.
Disconnect the cables (gently, they can be stubborn)
Connect up the new module (you will probably find 1 cable is no longer needed, think it goes to the aerial in the car)
Replace in foam under the drivers seat
Switch on ignition and pair up your phone!

Works with iPhone, supports A2DP bluetooth media streaming.
I think the 7P6 035 730 C might only work with White MFD cars.

Hi peebee
I've just fitted the 7P6 035 730 C unit as a bluetooth retro fix kit off ebay for £230 :D

Think I might have got the pricing wrong, could have been £299 less 10%.
I'll see if I can find the invoice.

Ok guys solved this :)

I bought and installed the latest module: 5N0 035 730 D (2011)

It works perfectly, even with the IPhone, and no VAG-COM coding was needed... just plug n play!

Maybe I'll post in some photos of it in operation...

Thank you to the guys who have replied, keep it up :)

Is this an upgrade or will it work with RCD510 that has no Bluetooth?

I've just got back from my garage having fitted the "D" unit. All seems ok in terms of the phone working. I now get a battery level meter in the MFD and 2 icons for music and bluetooth. What puzzles me is the phone connects (Android HTC), I can make and receive calls but I can't music stream. Also, previous bluetooth kits required a small plug in BT dongle. I havn't fitted one yet it works..

Any advice?

its an upgrade rob, you need the existing box there to be able to swap it out.

As trix correctly said, what I did was upgrade the factory fitted module 5N0 035 730 B to the latest 5N0 035 730 D module.

I attached both (existing) connections into the module...

Both calls and music streaming work fine :)

Looks like someone forgot to plug your MDI back in to the correct quadlock, you will not get the MDI working until you plug it back into the quadlock that goes directly into the headunit.

And you just need to code the BT to access the media audio.

Thanks Darren, I was hoping it was something physical rather than me screwing up the coding.

Much appreciated!

I just got round to fixing this last night. You were spot on. The loom supplied with the new phone kit does not have a socket and plug for the multi media block connector.

So if anyone is reading this and has the same problem, unclip the blue block connector from the original loom, and reconnect it to the new connector that goes into the radio.

Again, big thanks Darren

I have done this upgrade a few times now no problem upgrading from 5N0035730C TO 3C8035730A and works with every phone i have tried. They are superceding it to the 5N0035730D as previously mentioned but it is so new i haven't seen one yet. The cheapest way to get the 3C8 box from a uk dealer is to order 000051473F as Volkswagen have bought out this accesory to combat this problem, basically 000051473F IS A 3c8 box and manual. or you can look on internationa sellers on Ebay and pick on up for about £150.

This is the seller http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

very good he is too, only thing i will say is the long coding is not there yet on VCDS !!, so its a tad harder to code, although Morty helped with mine, i also got this from the seller

That was who I got mine from!
Initially worried about them being outside the UK, but I had a tracking number for the courier within 1 working day and delivery soon after.
