Newly acquired Scirocco GT needs some love!!!

Post by andythilo »

Due to a change round at work and a car coming back into the company, I now have the use of a 09 plate Scirocco GT TDi 140 in Candy White (with tan leather and DynAudio Sat Nav and 6 disk changer). Lovely car, only got it for 8 weeks but it needs some love before it's sold. Basically the guy who had it before has knackered 1 if not 2 alloys. Their the standard 18" Interlargos (I believe their called).

I think both the fronts are buckled and need new tyres. The rears might also be buckled but tyres are ok (cheap crap, but ok).

What is the best option if needed to get 2 replacement alloys? OEM or copies? What kind of price do they run to?

Also the suspension setting switch is stuck on sport and wont change. Dealer says probably just the switch, any ideas?

Yeah kinda. It's owned by the company, although it wont be may actual company car. I'm just using it for 8 weeks while my new car is built.

it'll all be paid for by the company regardless so just get OEMs.

Oh no I wont be paying, the company will be. But I have offered to sort it. I am the main car buyer 'advisor' for the company.

However as it will be being sold when I'm done with it, obviously we don't want to spend OEM wheel prices + £200 tyres. I'll have a look for some used ones, any good sources?

Andythilo, I've emailed you.

Andy and Lee, thanks very much! Top geezers as ever :)

Funnily enough I didn't put an ad on here as I didn't think there'd be much interest in a set.

Well it gets worse. Not only has the guy who had it buckled both front alloys, but also has bent the front drivers side suspension. The front wheel leans out, all other 3 sit up straight.

Bloody hell. it's going into VW on Monday to get looked at.

Let's hope he's not damaged too much. Sounds like it may involve an insurance claim though really. Fingers crossed it's nothing major, at least the repairs won't be coming out of your pocket!

Yeah could well do, problem is, it may have been like this for over a year, and been driven. Therefore god knows what other damage has been done as a result. Makes my blood boil. That car is so nice, so much potential. Oh and did I mention the dent in the rear wing? LOL *bangs head against wall*

One good thing is the interior is mint. Bit of ingrained muck in the carpet, but the leather has come up a treat and everything apart from the sport button works 100%. Although I think the latter may be related to the damage.

Such a shame people don't look after such nice cars, even if they don't own them themselves. Makes my blood boil. I hope he's learnt his lesson and looks after the BMW a bit better. Not that that's a consolation to you. :(
