Volkswagen has added eco ‘Bluemotion Technology’ tweaks to its Scirocco 2.0 TDI to improve economy to 62.8mpg and cut CO2 emissions to 118g/km.
All Scirocco models equipped with the 138bhp oil-burner will now get the improvements as standard, which include stop-start and battery regeneration systems. Before the changes, economy was rated at 55.4mpg and CO2 at 134g/km on models equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox.
The modifications are also available on 138bhp 2.0 TDI Sciroccos equipped with the six-speed DSG gearbox. Economy improves from 51.4mpg to 57.6mpg and CO2 drops from 145g/km to 129g/km.
VW has also revealed changes to the 168bhp version of the 2.0 TDI engine in the Scirocco GT, which improves economy from 53.3mpg to 54.4mpg and drops CO2 from 139g/km to 134g/km in six-speed manual cars.
The Passat CC is another VW model to benefit from Bluemotion Technology and stop-start and regenerative braking will be added to all diesel models as standard.
In 138bhp 2.0 TDI six-speed manual models, economy is boosted from 50.4mpg to 60.1mpg and CO2 cut from 146g/km to 125g/km.
All Scirocco and Passat CC Bluemotion Technology models are available to order now.

Re: Bluemotion added to 2.0 TDI
I have a 170hp TDI DSG on order due January/February but I don't think I mind too much. I wouldn't want a BM badge on my girls hind quarters, that's for sure!

Choose the free de-badge option, and of course there's no road fund licence to pay in the first year then £80 per annum in subsequent years! Every little helps lol

Re: Bluemotion added to 2.0 TDI
Is this just for new orders or can old 140TDI get the upgrade?

Re: Bluemotion added to 2.0 TDI
This is a new build only thing, you would need lots and lots of modifications to add it to a pre 2010 WK 45 car. I am not sure it would even be possible.

Even if you could get the upgrade at vast cost to save you a bit, do you think the UK government would reclassify your CO2 levels to give you a cheaper tax disc? Sure they would!
Unless you're stuck in static traffic for long periods on your daily commute etc, the start-stop is of little benefit. The brake regen can give everyone very modest gains though.
