How comfortable standard GT seats?

Post by gibbsy »

Almost up to the point of ordering a GT 170 DSG. Although the dealer has allowed me a good 45 minute test drive it is still hard to really find out how comfortable the standard seats on the GT are. There is no lumbar support and I have a severe arthritis problem on my spine therefore seat comfort is very important. I'm not worried about the suspension, the less body roll the better as it puts lets pressure on the base of my spine.

So, folks, how do you feel after a 2 hour drive? Or am I going to have to order a Golf GTD.

The seats are very good, I regularly take 3+ hour drives in the car and have no issues, I've got 2 prolapsed discs in my lower spine so I'm very sensitive to bad car seats.

I generally feel OK with the driver's seat after a long drive. I have seat lumbar control fitted though, that helps.

What I would also think about is the weight of opening the door, particularly a nose uphill as they are heavy being a 2 door. As that will make you twist.

We pick up our Rocco in less than 3 weeks time now ;)
Ive had Spina Bifda since birth and its does make choosing a car more differcult because lumber support always seems to be in the wrong place and gives me terrible backache
I have a scar at the base of my spine and car seats often touch in all the wrong places :( My golf wasnt too bad but when i test drove a Scirocco WOW!!
where the seat base scoops out is just where my scar is and the soft inner roll inside that scoop cusions my scar ;) Its Lovely

We had a decent test drive to be honest i didnt want to get out of the car

Im my opinion the Standard Cloth is more comfortable than leather, all the leather equiped cars in showroom ive sat in the seats seem very hard :(
Add to that my partner has leather in her car and though its nice boy its freezing in this weather Brrrrrrrr!!!!

I cant say for certain yet but on our test drive i was more than happy ;)
Besides think of the money you will save by not specifying leather :yummy:

I have heated seats in mine and it's the first car I have with this. I've set the seat up and have to admit I've never loved the word "Anthracite" as much as I do now (not that I'd heard it anyway). Anthracite leather interior meant nothing until I owned the car. Sure it looked good, and the 25 min test drive was nice, and the 5 min in the passenger side! But now, WOW. Amazing. Love it. So relaxed in this car.
