COLOURS

Post by sparrowlegs »

Just ordered my GT TDI 170 and now have the long wait until it arrives early next year hopefully.

Had real trouble choosing a colour.

In the end I went for Night Blue after looking at all the swatches at the dealers and photos of other colour on here etc. On the whole internet i can only find photos of one night blue Roc, is there anyone on here that has one that can put some photos up?

I have only ever seen white, red and Rblue in the flesh but my choice was based upon the following:

(please note that this is only my opinion, each to his / her own and all that)

Candy White - only really like the white with black wheels and as it is a company car i think it would be too flash. Dont think my boss would be too impressed when it arrived. If it were my own money then yes i would have white.

Salsa Red - personally i have never really liked red cars but know some people who have always wanted a red car. Would be better if it was a metalic but it is just not for me.

Rising Blue - lovely colour, i used to have a 205 GTI very similar, most common one i have seen around here although still not that many. Main reason for not going for this one is that the boss's daughter has one and we couldn't have two the same colour in the car park.

Deep Black - real looker but think the black hides the black grille, door trim etc a bit too much for me. Main reason for not going black is that my current car is black and i am bored of it and the constant polishing.

Indium Grey - my second choice, my only worry would be with the merlin cloth interior everything would just be a bit too grey.

Viper Green - maybe when i was a bit younger, a bit too loud for me.

Sumatra / Dark Oak - difficult to judge this colour i think without seeing one in the flesh so i have avoided it.

Reflex Silver - nice but recently has a Golf GT TDI in this colour and it doesn't do much for me now.

Silver Leaf - funny sort of colour in my opinion and cant decided if i like it or not, not even seen any pictures of one.

Hi Sparrowlegs!

I've also decided on Night Blue without actually seeing one apart from the set of pics on here - makes me kind of nervous, but just need to trust my judgement that it will look great 'in the flesh'

Only ever seen one in the metal. Sparrowlegs - my thoughts about it were exactly the same as you had about the black losing the trim etc. IF I had to go with a sober colour it would be Silver Leaf - only seen one in that colour as well and thought it looked really classy - with black wheels I think it would look superb.

Agree about the Reflex Silver. Also had a Golf GT TDi and silver cars seem much of a muchness.

Someone nearby me has a 'Roc in Reflex Silver and it looks... well... disappointing. My GF thought it was an Astra at first look :(

The Sumatra colour is great, since you have a "black" teint by night and a dark grey or brownish/black teint by day, depending on the light fall on the paint. I ordered the Black Oak Brown colour, trusting my 'sences', but I have to agree it takes guts to choose a colour without seeing it in the flesh.

I would have to agree with most of your statements. It is each to their own, and it is a very hard choice. I am sure most people have sat in the dealers with the swatches pondering over which colour. In the end i opted for Rising Blue and love it.

I havent seen any Night Blue's yet, but I have spotted one or two Shadow Blues over the months and it is a nice colour, so Night Blue should be too.
I can rely on my car, it's my Roc!!!
