I have just purchased a 3 month old 2.0TDI (170) in Rising Blue with many of the optional toys fitted and love the car. However when I picked it up the VW dealer said the User Manual etc were locked up (it was a Saturday) and they would post on Monday ( I live some 40 miles from them) but today they have told me that in fact the docs have been lost in the post between their two dealership sites (the car was a demonstrator based at the other site) so they will have to supply a new pack! Not too happy about that but can I just ask what should be in that pack apart from the drivers manual as my past cars have all been Vauxhall and theirs included cards with radio codes, wheel lock codes etc. but have no idea how VW do it.
The car is fitted with the top of the range Sat Nav/DVD player and the separate 6 cd stacking player in the centre armrest. Are all the options and variants covered in the one manual or should I receive several docs as well as information pertinent only to my car? Plus should there be a Service book? (I would have thought so!)
Any help greatly appreciated. Love the car - not so sure about loving the dealer!
John

There's a veritable argos catalogue of stuff!
It lives in the slot at the top of the glovebox cubby. There are several smaller booklets within a black A5 sized lever arch folder.
Off the top of my head, cos it's quite a walk to where mine's parked, there's a service book, a general 'every button and lever' book, a radio manual and another one or two I think. There's about 4 or 5 sections in the folder.

Re: What literature comes with car
Has anyone found the manuals (car, radio) online yet? I've seen the scanned radio manuals but that's about it.
Candy White 1.4 TSI 160 - DSG, ACC, 18" Interlagos (Euro Premium&Sport packs), Alu Door Sills, Current VCDS Mods Needle Sweep, Cornering Fog Lights, Alarm Chirp, Emergency Break Warning, Dension Gateway 5, sort of..

Not sure exactly what's there without going out to the car - but it's way too much to read. All I've done is to look for the page to tell you how to open the sunroof because I could only find the position for the button to make it tilt!
- should have checked whether it opens or note before ordering it! - and the page on how to turn the DRLs off, which didn't work and then found out through this place that they obviously don't bother updating the hand book as often as they should.

The worse thing about them loosing it is you have lost the service record book which has things like your VIN number and your options stickers on the inside page plus the stamp saying it had its PDI etc

You should be able to get copies of invoices etc from whatever dealer did the work though. I wouldn't worry about proof of PDI myself, I think any future buyer would automatically assume that a car had had it's PDI when new.

I had the lever arch folder with my first Scirocco, but when I picked up my new one a couple of weeks ago I was surprised to see the books now come in a fancy leather wallet. VW are really splashing the cash these days.Kev wrote:There are several smaller booklets within a black A5 sized lever arch folder.
