Rear Inside Panels Squeak!

Post by AndyInGlasgow »

Hi,

Does anyone else get squeaks from their rear inside panels? (These are the ones to your left and right when sitting in the back seats and have the speaker and arm rest on them).

MIne squeak when going over rougher roads (ie most roads these days!). Originally thought that it was tailgate but definitley these panels.

Not sure of best way to fix. Advice please fellow roccers!

Also how do you remove these panels and get in behind them!

Cheers

you need to establish where the squeek is coming from, find a friend to clamber round the rear of the car while you drive to find it (or they drive you clamber) & locate the surfaces causing it first.

i recall RW1 sorting a squeek from the parcelshelf area.. (I'm sure he will find a link to it shortly)

Take it back to the dealer. Taking the rear panels off is a real pain in the arse! You need to dismantle the rear seats to get them off.

Save yoursel the hassle and get the dealer to do it under warranty.

Velcro felt pads in the sockets of the parcel shelf hinge points and Krytox rubber lubricant on the hatch rubber seal (VW part number: G 052 172 A1 - Special Lubricant, specially developed for and used as VW EOS roof rubber lubricant.). Some going cheap on Ebay at the moment fro £2.99 from a Rover dealer in the South West - Car makers use it. Search using "Krytox". Bargain as its £32 at the VW dealers.

Guys

Thanks for this, but it's not the parcel shelf that's squeaking.

If you push the trim on the left and right hand sides where the arm rest and speakers are, this is what's squeaking not the parcel shelf! Imagine where back doors would be if you had them type thing!

Will try and take a photo in case I'm not explaining very well (could be my Scottish accent, hehe)!!

i have this coming from my rear passenger panel, a squeak which is more apparent when in dcc sport or on rougher roads, going back with it as soon as i get chance. Also both panels vibrate badly from the speakers cant be right?
