I guess people who went manual figured the 1500 quid was better spent elsewhere. It's a bit of a toss up really. I originally was going to go for the manual but looking at the specs I figured there wasn't anything else I would put the money to. The pana roof didn't interest me. I don't really have a need for xenons or the winter pack so that's money I might as well put into DSG to give it a go. My first car in 9 years so I'm prepared to take a punt on it being interesting to drive and use and I liked the demo car with it.

From the number of new cars members currently have on order, I am taking a guess but suspect VW will be struggling to meet their original target of selling 9000 Sciroccos in the UK in 2009?

Is their target really 9000??? I thought it was far less...
Hopefully they won't, still haven’t seen one on the road other than mine, and I want it to stay that way...

Yes, the original published targets were 3000 for 3/4Q 2008 and 9000 for 2009. The Scirocco is not aimed at business fleets and I suspect the market for coupes (which was declining anyway) will be well down due to the recession.

I have seen 3 ROC's myself since they came out, will be 4 in march once I get mine delivered.

1 in a place called Blackwood in southern Scotland, a white 2.0 TSI i think, another white 2.0 TSI in a place called Larkhall and the 3rd one was a white 2.0 TDI in Lesmahagow that belongs to my best mates uncle, I hope i don't see anymore of the damn things because I want mine to be as unique as possible. 7 weeks to go :(

I went back to my supplying dealer the other day and they still have their 08 plate salsa red demo car, a rising blue showroom car (both were there mid September) and a viper green. So, they aint selling, this was in cirencester and people in the area are not short of a bob or two.
Taken delivery : Silver, DSG, NAV, Black Leather, Park Sensors, Winter pack.

I joined the forum last night after looking at a Scirocco at the dealers last weekend. I hadnt seen them on the road only twice since they had come to the UK and today I saw 3! one in black, silver and blue! I hope they dont sell too many and I dont think they will if im honest (maybe im just trying to make myself feel better). It's a niche car after all? It's a shame it'll be at least a year before I'll be able to seriously consider one. In the meantime I'll enjoy being a member!

Does anyone know whether there will be any features on the exterior of the 170 PS TDi which will distinguish it from the 140 PS TDi version; a splash of red on the TDi badge perhaps? 8)

At a guess, i'd say the "i" on TDI will be red. Maybe VW will put a dark headliner on it too (140TDI only gets dark headliner if you bought leather). Other than that, you might get chrome exhaust tips like on the 2.0TSI....maybe.

There is a codification to the TDI badges, although I can't remember what the graduation is exactly (I'm sure someone will add the details) but basically the more red letters you have the more HP you have,

For example (not meant to be accurate!) if the whole badge is chrome maybe that's a 105 then a red "I" means 110 then red "DI" means 140 etc. You get the gist
