Does anyone else struggle to see the display on the 510 in daylight ?
I've got my brithness level set to the max but I can still hardly see it during the daytime, at night it's fine.
If that big yellow thing comes out in the sky then it makes it impossible to see anything.
As usual, am I missing out on something here ?

If your headlights come on then I think the HU display is dimmed - so as to avoid glare at night. So if your lights are on Auto and come on when its just a bit gloomy then you might have a problem. Noticed mine seems a bit dim sometimes but not a problem.
Try turning your lights to Off and see it it helps.
Or see an optician - it might be you

Just to add to that. You can turn off the dimming feature in the set-up menu of the 510 if that helps.ZephyR wrote:If your headlights come on then I think the HU display is dimmed - so as to avoid glare at night. Mine has this problem. Regardless of lights on/off. Sometimes it's very bright (usually first thing in the morning ) then it will gradually darken as the day goes on then may brighten up again. I asked the dealer if there were any known issues and he said no but they would change the head unit if it bugged me that much! I also complained about the track stutter you get when using ipod on continuous playback - again didn't know. So i'm gonna bide my time until an upgraded unit is available and the bugs are fixed then get them to swop it.
I will try turning off the dimming feature though.

I have RNS510, but think the display is similar. Mine was set on "automatic" for night/day, which I have changed to day, since the night setting is horrid.....
Re: Can hardly see the display on the 510
There is a small hole which is the light sensor, top righthand side i think. Check its not blocked or covered by something. We discovered it when my guys started fitting 'Bury' phone kits and they wouldn't auto brighten in sun light. As we had covered the sensor with the blutooth display.
