Heater - Not sure if there's a problem...

Post by ABZMike »

Hi,

Just wanted to pick the collective brain here...

I have a 1.4 with the standard aircon. All is great, except I have no graduation in temperature either with aircon on or off. The car seems pretty steamy in the rain, so need to have the fan on 1 or 2 most of the time. With the temp dial all the way to 26 it is hot, but rotate it a 1/4 back round and it is stone cold. 26 is too hot to have on all the time so I'm constantly fiddling, and on a longer run it seems worse. I've also noticed that the air into the footwell is pretty chilly whatever the heat setting.

Anyone else getting similar behaviour before I loose a day taking it to the dealer and trying to show them?

Thanks!

hi mike, seems to be problem there ok,but do bear in mind that the whole demisting/ventilation/heating scenario is absolutely crap for the price we paid for a ''premium brand''.of all the cars i have owned/driven,[& there were many], this is definately the worst for this problem.I have to say reluctantly,a very highly overated car overall.Far too many niggles, rattles, squeaks, poor design flaws, cheap nasty plastics used in lower areas of cabin,i could go on&on.

I will agree that the demisting, ventilation, etc system isn't perfect but it's not bad at all - got in the car yesterday with the windows completely steamed up (I'd been out earlier and got completely soaked so when I got back in the windows were steamed up) but the A/c on full blast and windscreen and within a few seconds it was all clear - can't really grumble at that?

Rattles and squeaks can be taken up with your dealer but I think sometimes we do forget (and I completely include myself in this) that cars are complex items with many, many parts - there are always going to be some rattles and squeaks (I have a rattle coming from the backseat / boot area but am loathe to take it to the dealers as in my experience if they fix one it comes back with 5 others :( )

I think your'e being a bit hard on the 'roc, at it's price which relatively speaking isn't that expensive (a top sepc fiesta is £16k list!) I think the quality of materials, build, etc is, on the whole, very good.

Just a little balance to your points anyway.

Thaks folks... didn't mean to start a firestorm - apart from the heater i'm enjoying the car very much....

I've given it another couple of weeks, but i'm really not happy with the way the heater is after 6 months of having it, so off to the dealer when I get a chance, although getting them to acknowledge a problem on such an issue may be a challenge!
