I didn't know they even *did* a 122bhp?

Which country are you from, Cosmo?

It's unlikely anyone on this forum will have driven a 122bhp as they certainly don't sell them in the UK
Ordered: July 6th
Build week: 45 - Took delivery build week 48
Spec: GT TDI140, Candy White, Rear Parking Assist, Cruise Control, Factory Mats.

My guess is that the 122 is one of these 'eco' models, I think VW were planning a Blue Motion version of the Scirocco but I thought that was a way off. For a sports coupe I would go for the 160 anyday!

Hi Cosmo, yes it is the "Blue Motion" Version. http://www.eurocarblog.com/post/2392/vo ... bluemotion" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am slightly confused actually, as this is implying that it will replace the 160PS in December? In which case the discounted one from your dealer may be the one to go for.

I am going to research this. :?

The article states that the new 122bhp blue motion version will have start/stop technology and some form of KERS device - it states it will replace the current 122bhp offering with 200Nm of torque, implying that in some territories there is a 122bhp option already.

A quick google search comes up with the following article - if you scroll past the pictures there's a basic summary of each engine option.

Croatian VW website shows both 122 and 160 versions available. (http://cc.porscheinformatik.com/nwapp/n ... c_Scirocco" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) My guess is the 122bhp engine is the same as that fitted to the golf in this country which has a turbocharger but no supercharger.

The 122 version has been available in several countries for some time - but not UK.

Pay attention that the 122 doent have intercooler and no supercharger. The first will limit the option to mod in the future.

it is supposed to be an ok engine, in fact i think whatcar rate it higher than the 160 verison in the golf. personally i'd have the 160 everytime in the scirocco but i'd certainly look at a 122bhp 1.4 if i was in the market for a diesel.

I can order the 160 tsi from stock but it doesn't have interlagos alloys and car doesn't look the same without them..
If I order a new one I have to wait for about 4 months and can forget 14,5% discount..

The 122 is available in France, it's not blue motion

I've read good things about it in the golf, apparently with the DSG7 it's very good

Personally I love my 160, amazing flexibility & performance for a 1.4

160hp and 122hp 1.4 TSIs are very much alike, but differ a bit in various parts.

122hp 1.4 TSI definately has a turbocharger, however it does not have a compressor.

The 122hp version is available in Germany for quite a while now, the Blue Motion Technology model was released last month iirc.
You can order the small engine with or without the BMT package

Cheers
