Rear Fog Lights

Post by Kellog »

Has anyone attempted to fit or had fitted an additional rear fog light to the near side light cluster of a Scirocco? I travel to Europe several times a year (retired) and it seems a good idea.

Do non UK spec cars have the fog light in the opposite cluster? If so you could alway order a new cluster for a European spec car.

you could do that or you can buy an extra fog lamp and cut into into your rear bumper...might be more noticable that way...

a friend of mine did that on his saxo and it looked well cool.

sensible suggestion Andy! I was thinking it should have a bulb fitted both sides but as i'm still waiting for my car I can't go out & check.

All the bulbs are there, you just need to run it on with vag-com.

If you have a google you should be able to find a load of info on vag com but essentially it's like the dignostic equipment at the dealership which allows a number of otherwise un-reachable options to be activated or deactivated.

I live on the continent and honestly I don't think it will make a big difference where the rear fog light is... Haven't really looked but I think different manufacturers put them on different sides. In any case I wouldn't recommend having rear fog lights on both sides as it might be confusing. They will look too much like the brake lights and might get you in trouble with the police...

Plenty of cars have dual fog lights, but on vehicles with one it's on the offside so you're more visible and people can tell you're not a motorbike. The corresponding light on the nearside is used for reversing light (so you can see the kerb more easily).
