Hi, having an issue with my Scirocco - hoping someone can help?. It’s a 2010 2.0tdi with just over 75000 miles.
I noticed a couple of months ago some blue smoke. Was on slight acceleration and over run. Nothing on idle. Usually happened after I’d not used it for any long runs for a while. But it disappeared pretty quick so assumed it was dpf regen. It’s happened again now and again since then always the same, but thought was getting worse.
Today it stated again but is much worse and is not going away. Have given it a good run for a couple of hours, mix of town, dual carriageway and a good half hour on the motorway. It’s definitely a light blue smoke, not black, but has a blue tinge to it. It’s still only on acceleration, doesn’t smoke on idle or while cruising, but on acceleration it chucks out quite a bit. It drives fine though, still pulls as it should, no hesitations or anything else… just the smoke.
It’s also smelling really bad, like burnt fuel or burnt oil. I lifted the plastic engine cover and found a bit of oil sitting on top of the valve cover.
Not sure if it’s related but ever since I bought it in Jan I’ve noticed the temp needle would always fluctuate quite a bit. All other VWs I’ve had they sat at 90C pretty solid once warm but this one always sits quite cool and only sometimes gets up to 90. I’ve noticed it also uses a little water, the bottle usually needs topping up every 2 months or so.
Any advice?
Cheers

Mine did that on a petrol 2.0 TSi, mine is the turbo that's gone so have order a new hybrid one which is coming today. Hope it's not that though as it's expensive!
