Tint peeling off side window :o

Post by norco »

Hi all,

Has anyone else encountered this??? It seems the tint on the passenger and driver side front windows is achieved using a fine film and I noticed yesterday one of mine is stating to peel from the lower part of the windows. I'm asuming there is something inside the door/window mechanism that has snagged the film and its now torn. Question is, is this standard? My car was a year old when I bought it and had some minor modifications. Not sure if this was one of them. Think VW will charge a fortune to replace it??? I'll ask them anyway.

Cheers for any thoughts.

OEM tint is not a film so it sounds as if an aftermarket tint has been added before you bought the car.

Afaik, UK cars are never sold with any tint on the front windows - the law states 70% of the light must go through the front windows and windscreen.
Usually the glass itself without any tint can cut over 20% of the light so tints are never supplied on the front windows of a new car.
