ABT Tuning 1.4

Post by solymar »

Has anyone tried it yet? I will receive my scirocco 1.4 TSI this week. Regarding ABT specifications, they can tune it from 160 to 210 HP. But how does this affect the engine? I can imagine that it will run less smooth.

Cheers vee_dubber_h for that inordinatley helpful response... I'm sure after that pearl of wisdom solymar is really kicking himself for forgetting that there is a 2.0 GT model...
solymar - I wouldn't really be going to ABT for an engine mod, just as I wouldn't go to kwik fit for an engine rebuild.
ABT, like Oettinger and others, specialise in bodykit's and they usually have there own range of rims.
They also supply engine mods, springs/dampers etc. They do this to act like a one stop shop.
My honest opinion would be to use Revo for your engine remap. I have the same engine as you and I also have a Revo remap up to 210-220hp.
If you ask most people on the forum, they will tell you the same, Revo supply THE BEST remap for this car, be it the 1.4 or the 2.0.

Solymar - I would recommend that you take the advise from Pat15312, the lad know's what he is talking about

I have my car booked in for the Revo treatment on 18th July, Have a good look around this forum and you will find plenty of posts from reliable sources recommending Revo.

From what I have read personally, Revo appear to be the best in the game. I have also spoken to a couple of guys who actually re-map cars and they all say the same thing.....Revo!

By all accounts you will be able to maintain the current mpg that you get from your 1.4....whist driving in a reasonable manner :) sort of a different story when your foot hits the floor :D

Hi to everyone, i am thinging to buy the scirocco 1.4Tsi 160hp DSG and that’s the reason i join to the forum…
First: i remap (Revo) my car 2 years ago (Mercedes C200k Coupe) and from 163hp go to 186hp ONLY and I am NOT happy because the engine its not running normal and smooth.. also sometime I feel that it lose power when I push to the limit.

Question:
1) I upgrade only 23hp the 1.8engine I am reading you post now and I am surprised… from 1.4 engine to go to 210-220???? Ow…..
2)whats the limit of the engine? Isn’t that dangerous for the engine?
3)whats the limit of the DSG ?
4) i always thought that ABT was better than Revo…
5) I want to remap my car but I want something safe max 185-190hp

i dont think revo have ever remapped mercedes, apart from VAG group they do Porsche

posted this in off topic regarding polo gti (lost on due to not saying scirocco) which made intersting reading

Meanwhile, VW engineers have managed to extract up to 280bhp from the Polo's diminutive 1.4-litre twin-charge engine. :eyepop:

don't think any of the tuners in the UK have remapped the 1.4 dsg, which is the weak point no doubt in the remap equation

Lol! We only offer software for VAG and Porsche vehicles,

Maybe you had software installed by a dealer who offers Revo for said applications and another product for others, that would make sense ;-)

i am admiring your perseverance but whatever you think in your head, the map on your merc is not a Revo one, so slating them is making you look a little silly :fall:

revo carl does work for Revo at their headquaters

so you are ignoring what the revo website says, a revo representative says and putting your faith in an advert in autotrader which uses their name, another company called ecu tuning, and some information about power outputs for various cars and concluded from that its a revo map on the merc, you are still backing the wrong horse as you are assuming the advert is correct

i'm sure revo will be interested in knowing who it is :eyepop:
